Overview
LinkedIn Messaging Toolkit is a browser extension that improves the LinkedIn messaging experience (for example, by expanding the conversation area on thread pages). We designed this extension to work locally in your browser and to collect as little data as possible.
Information We Collect
We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. The extension does not send your data to any external server operated by us.
The only information stored by the extension is saved locally on your
device using chrome.storage.local:
- Feature toggle states (for example, whether full-width messaging is enabled)

A local installation timestamp (
installedAt) recorded when you first install the extension
This data stays on your device, is not synced across devices unless Chrome does so through its own mechanisms, and is used only to remember your extension preferences.
How the Extension Works
When enabled, the extension runs a content script on
https://www.linkedin.com/* pages to adjust page layout
and apply the features you turn on. The extension:
- Does not read or store your LinkedIn messages, contacts, or profile content
- Does not access your LinkedIn password or authentication credentials
- Does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking tools
- Does not communicate with third-party services
Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions:
- storage — to save your feature preferences locally
- sidePanel — to open the settings panel when you click the extension icon
- webNavigation — to detect LinkedIn page navigation within the single-page app so features apply and restore correctly
- Host permission: linkedin.com — to run only on LinkedIn pages where the extension features are relevant
Data Retention and Deletion
Stored preferences remain on your device until you change them, uninstall the extension, or clear the extension's local storage through your browser settings. Uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored data from your browser.
Children's Privacy
This extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
